Attendance Area Revisions (Clairemont and Madison Clusters)

clairemont canyons academy and Holmes elementary; innovation and marston middle schools; and clairemont and madison high schools

UPDATE AS OF OCTOBER 19, 2022:

IFPD appreciates the community's support and engagement throughout the attendance boundary change process.

Due to an updated construction schedule from the developer, the proposed boundary change will not be moving forward for the 2023-24 academic year.  The District will reach out to the community at an appropriate time in the future.

What is being proposed?

The district is proposing revisions to the attendance areas of Clairemont Canyons Academy and Holmes Elementary schools, Innovation and Marston Middle schools, and Clairemont and Madison High schools for the 2023-24 school year.

A portion of the Holmes attendance area would become part of the Clairemont Canyons Academy attendance area. District policy is to revise boundaries at all levels to maintain feeder pattern continuity. As a result, the same portion of the Marston Middle and Clairemont High attendance areas would become part of the Innovation Middle and Madison High areas.

You may participate in this process by responding to the Survey linked at the bottom of this page. You may also view a one-page informational flier in English and Spanish.

why are these revisions being proposed?

Revisions are proposed because residential development is occurring that is expected to generate elementary enrollment exceeding Holmes’ facility capacity. Facility space will be needed for approximately 85 to 170 elementary age students. A new housing development on the northwest corner of Genesee Avenue and Balboa Avenue will be occupied during the 2023-24 school year.

To ensure space is available for future students, a portion of the Holmes attendance area that includes the new development would become part of the Clairemont Canyons Academy attendance area, where adequate capacity is available in the new facility for additional enrollment.

Who is affected?

The new attendance areas would be in place for elementary, middle, and high school students living in the changed area beginning in the 2023-24 school year.

No residents currently live in the area proposed for change; there are only businesses.

Therefore, no current students at any schools are affected by the proposed revisions. Only future students are impacted.

WHERE is the AREA OF PROPOSED CHANGE?

Below is a map of the proposed revision. The dotted red line is the area proposed to become part of Clairemont Canyons' attendance area.  The solid red line is Clairemont Canyons' existing attendance area. You may view a PDF of the map as well.
